About Me

  • 2 min read

Hello! I am an anonymous Senior Software Engineer working out of Japan. I have a wide range of experience from using C to program embedded devices, to cloud native supportability and reliability. As a result, I find myself to be more of a generalist than anything, but pride myself most on ensuring that software is used for one of two things:

  • To be a reliable and sustainable tool for as many people as possible
  • Is used to create art that can impact people's lives for the better.

Passions

  • Music
  • Games
  • Technology
  • Open Source Software
  • Cats and dogs

Preferred Languages

  • C is -- imo -- one of the most important languages to know and understand even if you don't use it as a daily driver for project.
  • Rust is easily my favorite language due to it's incredible type system and emphasis on compile time correctness
  • Golang has become my goto replacement for python. It's nice and succinct and super quick to run with fewer footguns than python, but an incredible flexibility.

Begrudgingly Known Languages

Languages that I know for professional reasons, but are the epitomy of not fun to use or develop in.

  • C++ - I "know" it, but I still think that for the most part you are better going with C, Go, or Rust because C++ gets so ugly so fast >.>;;
  • Java - To be honest, it's less Java itself and more... everything around java that I feel saps the joy out of programming
  • C# - It's like Java but slightly less bad! Worst part about it is the freaking docs though. I have yet to find a place that provides worse documentation.
  • Javascript/Typescript - I actually don't dislike the languages so much as I find it being used in the wrong domain too much.
  • Python - More of a domain thing. It's fantastic for simple shell utilities and scripts that are short enough to rewrite from scratch when you need to change it. For anything more involved or larger, I want a compiler. You'll just be more productive.

Technologies That I Like

  • Godot Game Engine - The game engine that got me to actually love making games.
  • Jujutsu
  • Kubernetes
  • DevOps/GitOps deployment
  • Containerization
  • Nvim (in particular lazynvim)
  • Anything that can run in a terminal emulator like wezterm or ghostty
  • Linux in general
